The Set Up

Just like the office, make sure you have everything you need. Set up a base in a room with a good wifi connection, a desk or table high enough for your laptop or computer to sit at, your notepad, pen, mouse mat and a comfortable chair. Make sure you’re near a plug socket for the all important laptop charger!

Minimise Distraction

A tidy space equals a tidy mind… Ensure your new space is clear of clutter before you start. This will help the mind stay focused and will be beneficial for all those video meetings! Make sure you regularly clean surfaces and laptops before starting and the end of the day.

Minimise distraction (if you can) in a quiet room away from other noise in your household or outside. If you listen to music whilst working, ensure it’s at a volume where you can concentrate.

Get The Right Lighting

With spring on the way and the sun shining, being cooped indoors can feel isolating from the outside. Try working near a window to see in the natural light which you can open for fresh air.  If your room is too dark or you are working later, add a stylish desk lamp .

You will be spending a lot of time working from home, so at least make it comfortable and pretty! Have all your essentials nearby, grab a cuppa at the start of the day, add a cushion to your chair if you need to. Enhance your desk area with flowers and plants. It’s ok to grab accessories from other rooms too! Why not get some photo’s of friends and family from the other room to place on your desk? Be creative and decorate with candles to make you feel positive and productive and ready for the day ahead.
